Mendocino NF and coast - On May 1, 1998, I
was snowshoeing at 5000' at one point, then enjoying a balmy day on the
coast an hour later. That's California for ya! You'll also find a
couple pictures from our trip to Navarro Redwoods SP and MacKerricher
SB, as well as some images from a geology fieldtrip taken with
some Stanford people to Shell Beach.
San Francisco Bay Area - Home base for all our
ramblings around the SF Bay Area. Hiking photos, biking photos, climbing photos,
and random photos. Roughly 30 minutes' worth of time wasted at work if you choose
to go through all the photos!
San Diego - Kim and I drove down to San Diego,
where we met up with my parents and some of my Dad's relatives.
Unfortunately, Kim was sick for much of the trip, but she did manage to get
out this day. We drove over to La Jolla with Kim's friend Ana
Garanito, who also happened to be in town.
Big Sur - I took my first visit to California's
famous Big Sur coastline in August, 2001. I simply didn't know what I was missing!
The incredibly steep, surprisingly high topography, coupled with clear air, blue
water, and an inviting coastline are this area's appeal. For some reason, we
equated this beauty with the suffering of the Big Sur
International Marathon.
Round Top - Kim, Robert, and I skied Round Top, a
prominent 10,300-foot+ peak in Mokelumne Wilderness, in February, 2002.
Carson Pass Skiing - Kim and I did an
overnight backcountry ski trip into the Mokelumne Wilderness from Carson Pass
on May 22-23, 2003.
