MATRICES AND VECTORS

Matrices are universally denoted by upper-case boldface. Vectors are lower-case boldface everywhere except in the conjugate-gradient section of chapter [*], where vectors are capitalized when in transform space.

${\bf x}$ generic model space, often unknown
		${\bf y}$ generic data space
		${\bf d}$ data, given
		${\bf A}$ generic matrix
		${\bf B}$ generic matrix
${\bf B'}$ conjugate transpose of generic matrix
		${\bf I}$ identity matrix
${\bf U}$ unitary or pseudounitary matrix
		${\bf W}$ weighting diagonal matrix
		${\bf D}$ diagonal matrix
		${\bf N}$ NMO (normal-moveout) matrix
${\bf T}$ tridiagonal matrix; matrix with time t on diagonal
		Q quadratic form
