Conclusions

Equations (5) and (6) show that residual prestack Stolt migration can be done without actual knowledge of the reference and correct velocities, but only by knowing or assuming their ratio. This understanding has important practical consequences, for example, in applications that use RPrSM as a method of improving the focusing of an image that has been depth-migrated with an arbitrary velocity function.
