An omnipresent theme in geophysical surveying is that
we never have enough spatial coverage.
In my book GEE, a theme is that we cope with
insufficient data not via autocorrelation calculation
but via prediction-error filter (PEF) estimation.
Multidimensional PEFs are also a natural way to handle non stationarity.
No doubt, we could return to the PEF approach for dealing with scattering too.
