All the documents and program sources we can find are
much smaller than the capacity of the disk.
For example, my book text is about 1 Mb and its programs
are about 3 Mb.
All the software we share internally at SEP is perhaps 30 Mb.
The needed data space is about 20 Mb.
Typesetting software and fonts may be 50 Mb.
As you can see, there remains a huge space for
other documents and data, more than we can use.
To use some of the excess available space
we decided to include program binaries
for those computers that we have in our lab,
IBM, Sun, and DEC.
Thus most readers should not need to compile anything
to start reading electronic documents
and interacting with some of the figures.
Hopefully we will need only a few written instructions
to accompany the disk saying how to mount it
and what to do then.
