CONCLUSION

The PE filter technique (Lomoplan) that we presented in this article was designed to enhance discontinuities in migrated seismic subsurface images. The PE filter technique, called Lomoplan, proved difficult to tune for the target in a particular data set. After an initial success (Fluvial system), we encountered later cases for which the filter

• enhanced image artifacts in an image (salt dome) that contained a strong acquisition footprint.
• removed all the discontinuities in an image (salt anticline) whose discontinuities were smooth.

Additionally, we lack a meaningful method of combining the output of the various Lomoplan residual images. Overall, we have yet failed to devise a robust process that enhances discontinuities.
